Home Audio Crash Course

Yo, what’s up? What’s up? What’s up again? Sherrod Scott here with Sandman HD, aka the black MacGyver, a nickname given to me by my top client. And he’s also a friend. So I take that with pride. Today I want to talk to you about certain home audio systems that surround sound multi room stereo systems. And the, the differences between many of those systems, right. So you got the TV buys, go and buy a TV. Nice and flat prior to OLED. I don’t know, if you bought one like that, you know what I mean? and hook it up to that on the wall and the sound sucks. Why is the sound? The sound sucks because a speaker needs space to move air, right? So when you see a speaker, like the ones behind me, when they’re on they’re moving, right? And what they’re doing is they’re pressing the air. So the air pressure sends the sound out, right, it’s how you get your sound. Well, what a thin speaker, like we’re thin television like that, I’m sorry, there’s not really a place to move too much air around, right? So what they normally do is they put the speaker and back at the TV weren’t facing a wall. And when you’re listening to the TV, you actually listen to the drywall because the sounds wrong bounce off the drywall, which sounds horrible, right? You can’t you can’t get any articulation, you feel like you turn the volume up louder and louder and then a hurt commercial comes on to too loud. So that’s where the sound bars come into play. Because a sound bar is the in between the surround sound and the TV sound right? So you can get this little soundbar some of them 150 bucks. Some of them are at hundreds more 1000 I mean I think Sonos makes a nice soundbar you put that in and then you can actually hear what’s on television right it was inexpensive, relatively inexpensive compared to surround sound. Now for all you guys out there that are into movies into sports and you you actually want the speakers behind you because the sound bar is trying to mimic the surround sound system it doesn’t have speakers behind you in most cases, I’ll do there some noun that we could add. Like again like songs you can add the speakers behind you for knowing that the best thing to do is to have the speakers behind you surround sail 5.1 Surround Sound 5.2 And then you’re going to see point one 7.1 Then you start crossover into Dolby Atmos it has a lot more speakers, speakers in the ceiling speakers you know shooting off the top of speakers, the speakers on top of speakers right? You can get that if you’re really into your sound systems and at first I wasn’t I thought it was gimmicky. But the more I started working with Dolby Atmos, it actually the sound quality is really you know, unparalleled so that’s one of the things you might want to consider with your audio system is which most people don’t what happens similar to with the soundbar I’m sorry if the television speakers you put on you know this great system and it could be five grand be 50 grand, but you don’t put any acoustic panels so of course the panels are kind of like almost like pillows they’re not pillows, but they’re kind of they absorb the echo right we have over you have equity phone conversation. You can’t hear any articulation you can’t hear much of what the person said what what what Hello, hello, trying to turn the volume up on your phone but it’s already all way up right? So if you put in some acoustic panels I promise you you don’t have to spend 50 grand to get agree Sam you can you can get some rather economical speakers rather reasonably priced. And you’d be surprised the difference that you hear right now the panels are a range from 50 bucks to to the cloud don’t make because you’re gonna customize to look like movies great movie covers or your family photo or you know just some scenic scenic background you get a lot of stuff learn to believe there’s a company called Cousteau Mac. If you Google acoustic Mac, you’ll see you have so many options for us. Now, back to the sound systems. So Serrano sounds so we’ve covered TV sale, sandbars, surround sound, but now there’s multi room stereo, right. So multi room stereo is when you have a centralized music system that plays music in multiple rooms. So the most common rooms are going to be the bedrooms, master bedroom, master bath kitchen, and the outside deck or outside area. That’s where you going to have most of your sound system here, right. And it’s cool because you know, you could be cleaning it up, you could be entertaining, you could be having, you know, just just chill him one day, you know, me. And you have this cohesive sound system that brings every, you know, all the spirits are equal in the whole house. Right. So everybody’s in the same mood, the same time everybody’s happy. Everybody’s singing along, it’s just a beautiful thing, right? There’s multiple ways you can install systems. You can do, you can do Bluetooth, Bluetooth is cheap and simple. But it’s not very you know, if it’s if it’s in one room is great. When you start adding multiple rooms, or multiple levels to the system, it gets hard, because now you can’t discern which room you’re connecting to. It’s just, it’s just not practical. So if you’re gonna do one room, Bluetooth is great. Or one area, just a kitchen, a dining room, something like that, please, Bluetooth is great. But when you start adding layers to your system, you’re going to want to use something a little more robust. I love Sonos, I go to somebody because I don’t get a lot of callbacks from that. So the app is great. And also the sound quality is great. And it just the hardware and the software are great. I mean, there’s other ones he knows. Some of them are coming to me right now. But there’s several different ways to do it. The more you spend, make sure you’re getting the intellect that matches the dollar amount that you’re spending. So you don’t want to spend 20 grand and getting, you know $2,500 intellect. So Sonos has the software and the hardware. And there’s other ones too, but that those are my go twos right there right in the middle of the road. Yeah, so, so we got TV sound, surround sound, multi room audio. And those are going to be the three basic sound systems in your home. Thank you for watching. If you want you can reach out to me 610-550-3238 Or you can visit my website at Sandman was here.com. I’d be happy to help you. I’m based out of Newtown square, Pennsylvania. Right now, the show was not open to the public. We’re still working on that. But we will be working on that shortly. All right. Have a good day.
